I just read that Apple recently sent a memo that outlines the best practices for video podcasters. And perhaps if you are already producing video podcasts or may want to consider producing one, it would be better if your production will comply to the video encoding specifications of AppleTV because as we all know, AppleTV already hits the family room.
The primary adjustment that video podcasters should do to make their podcast AppleTV friendly is to encode their video resolution to at least 640 pixels wide. Apple recommended using the built-in iPod converters in Compressor (”H.264 for iPod”), QuickTime Pro (”Movie to iPod”) or iTunes (”Convert Selection for iPod”) because these can preserve the aspect ratio of your source file.

And for those who just heard AppleTV but do not have a concrete idea about what it is, how this differ from Xbox 360 and to find out if this new gadget is worth buying, I highly recommend you to read on this great review from the Wall Street Journal.
