Podbridge Got $8.5 Million On-board

April 21st, 2007 · No Comments

Public Equity Hub stated that Podbridge, a company based in California that provides audience measurement and ad network services for advertisers and publishers, obtained a whopping $8.5 million of venture capital financing in their Series B funding.

Podbridge is now a company that is backed by PartnersSutter Hill Ventures and joined by two of Silicon Valley’s top venture capital firms, Mayfield Fund and Worldview Technology. They provide accurate measurements of both podcast downloads and podcast listens; audience profiles with demographics, listening habits and locations and a dynamic ad insertion, rotation, measurement and consulting services among others.

But although the $8.5 million venture funding is quite impressive, I have noted some of not-so-favorable comment about the fund received by Podbridge or should I say by any other podcasting company since they refer to podcasting in general.

One remarked that podcasting is over-funded and are not really popular with consumers at all, so what would Podbridge need to deliver to live up the $8.5 million financing? The other one told that podcast advertising has been very disappointing because there are no enough podcast listeners for advertisers to scale as compared with Adsense or other buy.

I believed that the above two are just simply point of views and hence, just like any other podcasting critics, we can just ponder about their insights together with the optimistic vision of podcasting companies/podcast producers and then let us all see what really awaits for podcasting several months or years from now. Who knows? Podbridge may become the Adsense for this market segment.
